How does the camera know when to take a photo?

The camera has a highly sensitive motion detector and it is also fully programmable. You can program it to take a photo or series of photos whenever motion is detected. Alternatively, you can program it to take a photo or series of photos at particular time lapse intervals.

How are the images stored and how many can be stored?

Just like a normal digital camera, images are stored to a SD memory card. A 128mB card will hold approx 3200 images at high resolution and approx 8800 images at medium resolution. The 2GB card will hold approx 44,000 images at high resolution and 65,000 images at medium resolution.

What is the size of the camera?

Can the cameras been used outdoors?

Yes, the outdoor and night vision cameras are completely weatherproof. The indoor camera needs to be installed in an External Weatherproof Case to enable it to operate outdoors.

Can I hide the camera?

Yes, the camera can be easily hidden in a box, cavity, book, folder, pocket, etc. You can also program the camera to operate in covert (or black-out) mode where all indicator lights are disabled when in operation. To see Special and Hidden applications click here.

How long does the battery last before recharging is needed?

The high capacity battery supplied with the indoor camera will last up to 9 weeks. The extra high capacity battery supplied with the outdoor camera will last up to 9 months. The Night Vision camera will last around 18 weeks (4 ½ months) in standby mode and if for example, it takes 200 photos per night, every night of the week, the battery will still power both the camera and the synchronised infra-red spotlight for around 11 weeks.

How long does it take to recharge the battery?

The Indoor camera with regular battery charging via the AC adaptor supplied will take 2 days and via the rapid charger 2 hours. Extra High Capacity battery via rapid charger will take 8 hours.

Can I run the camera from mains power?

Yes, using the 9V AC adaptor supplied. You can also run the camera from 12 volt DC (eg, auto battery) or charge the battery from a solar panel.

How can I tell when the photo/s were taken?

Each photo is time and date stamped.

What is the resolution of the images?

24 bit colour, JPEG compressed. Medium resolution is 320x240 pixels, high resolution is 640 x 480 pixels.

Are my images secure from others?

Yes. When programming the camera you can type a password to encrypt all images so only you can view them. Also, if someone were to attempt to remove the card whilst the camera is armed, it will disable the memory card.

How do I view the photos?

Use the card reader and software supplied to download and join all the images together and view as a video on your PC, laptop or PDA.

Why is the night vision camera only black and white and not colour?

A black and white camera is three times more sensitive in low light conditions. It is ideal for capturing images in poorly lit indoor areas or in infra-red night vision mode.

Can the infra-red spotlight on the Night Vision camera be seen by intruders?

No, it is invisible.

What is the range of the motion detector?

About 12 metres.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?
